When my wife and I first decided to have a kid, she was constantly reading about how to be a good mother and what to expect through the pregnancy.

It was quite a roller coaster for sure and I didn’t even expect all the crazy hormone changes and the emotions.

Towards the end my wife was making sure everything was ready and I guessed that was what they called nesting. Then she said we had to do something about the HVAC system. She said that it was important for a developing child’s health to have access to good air quality. I had never heard about that but I took her word for it. I ended up reaching out to the HVAC company and told them we needed good air quality as we had a baby on the way. The HVAC professional came out and he did what was needed. He installed a powerful UV air purification which he ensured us would provide excellent air quality. He also said it would be smart to have the ductwork cleaned, so he took care of that for us as well. He recommended that we use HEPA filters if we wanted to ensure we had the best air quality possible, and that’s exactly what we wanted. I thought we got a pretty good deal on the box of HEPA filters he sold us. The air quality improved drastically from what it was before and my wife was thankful for that. We were so happy when we were able to bring a beautiful baby home from the hospital.

When my wife and I first moved into our new neighborhood, there was just our one neighbor who came over to greet us.

He was a really nice guy and we hit it off pretty well from the get go.

He said we could come over anytime and so we did. My wife ended up making a nice lasagne and she baked some brownies for dessert which we brought to his house. He was delighted and invited us in. When we all sat down together at the table to enjoy dinner, everything went pretty swell. I actually mentioned to our neighbor that he must get quality HVAC service because the temperature control settings were wonderful and the air quality was also nice. Our neighbor laughed and said he worked on the HVAC himself, so he took that as a compliment. My wife asked if you didn’t have to be a professional to work on the HVAC equipment and that’s when our neighbor said that was true. He then said that he was an HVAC professional but he was retired. That was really cool to hear and I even asked if he would check out our HVAC sometime. He didn’t hesitate to come over the next day to check everything out. He actually seemed to appreciate our HVAC system too because he said it was well maintained and it was a good model. He told us that he would come over to maintain our HVAC if we kept cooking him some good meals. He said his wife passed away the previous year and it was hard for him. He wasn’t really depressed it seemed, but he said he wasn’t the greatest cook and that lasagne dinner reminded him of his wife’s cooking.

The other day, my wife and I were supposed to do our date night.

• We have been doing one date night per month where it’s just the two of us enjoying a romantic dinner.

Well, this past time we didn’t really feel like getting out of the house. We decided to have our dinner delivered to us. We ended up ordering from one of our preferred indian restaurants because their chicken tikka masala is to die for! So while we were waiting on our food to arrive, I got a fire going in the fireplace and then I cruised Netflix to see what movie we might want to watch together. When I saw the sequel to the 300 movie, I thought it might be fun to watch. My wife also enjoyed the first movie even though there’s so much bloodshed and gore. She said we could watch that while eating our dinner together. It wasn’t a very romantic date night for us, but the fireplace was keeping up perfectly toasty and the food was delicious! Admittedly, I had to put my food down at some points during the movie and I ended up putting the food in the fridge for a later time while my wife and I enjoyed relaxing together and watching the rest of the movie. Honestly, she didn’t even make it through the whole movie. I mean to give her credit, she made it about half way. When the movie was over she ended up waking back up and I gave her some wine to drink. After that, we just enjoyed each other’s company while drinking wine.

Ever since I installed a window A/C unit in the kitchen, my wife has been enjoying cooking more often because it doesn’t become so overheated with the A/C working in there.

The A/C unit has been working great and I can’t believe the cooling relief that it provides.

Well, this year for my birthday, my wife said she would bake me whatever cake I wanted and make my preferred dinner of choice. I got all crazy and asked for a triple decker german chocolate cake. She looked thoughtful for a minute and said she would do it! I said of course she was going to need the A/C unit and I went to turn it on. I was surprised when it wasn’t actually working and I frowned. My wife said she thought something was wrong with it but she wasn’t sure what. I then said I didn’t know how she was going to make that special dinner for me with the amazing cake. I was thinking maybe I could just go to the store and buy a new window A/C unit and then she told me I could open one of my birthday gifts early. She pointed at this big one and I was excited. I went to open it and it was a window A/C unit! It was like somehow she knew that we would need another one. This was perfect too because it was highly energy efficient and had a built-in smart thermostat. This means we are able to control the temperature with our smartphones!

I put a lot of thought into the gift that I got for my wife.

I ended up getting something that I knew she would cherish forever, at least I hoped she would.

It was this beautiful ruby necklace with a lovely heart shape made of gold. I saved up a little bit of money to get her this special gift and I was dazzled by her reaction when I gave her the gift. We were relaxing there in front of our fireplace while we had the little ones with a babysitter. When she pulled out the gift she got for me, I smiled widely and wondered what it could be. It wasn’t in a very large box or anything. When I opened it and saw that it was a smart thermostat, I almost couldn’t help but jump up and down like an excited kid opening presents during Christmas. I held back my glee, but I hugged my wife because I always wanted to have a smart thermostat. I asked her if she minded that I install it right then and there, and she said it was alright. She knew that I wouldn’t be able to wait to try the thing out. Well, it didn’t even take me that long, maybe 20 minutes but that’s because I had to watch the installation video. Now we are able to control the temperature control settings with our phones and it’s the most fantastic thing. Like when we go on vacation, we can make adjustments and make sure the HVAC system is working fine. It really is amazing and I especially love the other cool features like auto learning mode and geofencing.

I have a good friend who was involved with a boiler explosion just last year.

Considering this could potentially happen to any family who has a boiler and maybe misses out on important HVAC maintenance, I thought I would explain what happened so perhaps people can learn from my friend’s mistake.

Honestly, the explosion probably would have never happened if his little one wasn’t messing with the thermostat. In certain cases, a boiler can explode if there is too much pressure build up. If you were cranking the boiler system to max heating for example and the system is old, it might not be able to withstand the pressure that is built up. In my buddy’s case, his baby cranked the heating system without knowing what she was doing. Kids tend to love to play with things they are not supposed to like thermostats. It was more than just that though, it was the fact that my buddy didn’t get his HVAC system maintenance for years. He didn’t get a tune-up or anything and this could be why his heating system had more wear than it should have. Fortunately, nobody was hurt when the boiler system exploded as nobody was in the basement and nobody was near the boiler. There was no fire, it was just an explosion of water. Now he had to get an emergency HVAC team out right away to take care of the mess and make sure there wasn’t a real explosion through the fuel line, but he turned off the gas asap before even calling for HVAC help.

You should be getting a regular tune-up before each winter season regardless

A situation that you never want to find yourself in is a boiler explosion. Believe it or not, this is a realistic thing that happens in different residences and places of business. Typically, boiler explosions will happen in much older systems. The more modern boiler systems are relatively safe to operate so long as you keep up with regular HVAC maintenance. There are certain telltale signs that you are at risk of an explosion though. If your water smells like rotten eggs or sulfur, this is very dangerous. This means there is a gas leak somewhere and this easily can cause an explosion and kill somebody. If you have brown water, this can be a huge problem as it would mean there is rust and sediment building in your pipes. If there is too much pressure from a blockage in the pipes, this can lead to an explosion for sure. Also, if you hear your pipes making pinging noises, this can mean there is also sediments building up which again can put you at risk for an explosion. If you are ever unsure, it’s always best to have the HVAC professionals come to check everything out. You should be getting a regular tune-up before each winter season regardless. If you choose to have faith that your boiler system won’t develop any complications without regular maintenance and care, you might find yourself in a terrible situation one day that could have been avoided. First of all, I’m going to say that our daughter is very spoiled. Of course, she’s our only child so it’s something that we cannot help. She’s a brilliant child and she gets good marks in school. She doesn’t get into fights and she is respectful towards other people, I mean what more could you want in a child? More recently, she has told us that she wants to decorate her room in different ways so she can practice her acting skills. She wanted to make the environment as realistic as possible. Her first project was going to make her room look like a jungle, which was very ambitious I must say. She even wanted to mimic the heat of the jungle by cranking up the heating system a little bit. I liked the idea she had, but I didn’t want to feel like I was in a jungle, so I thought that it might be a good idea to go for a zoned HVAC system. I ended up doing just that too. The HVAC professional was surprised by the reason behind going for HVAC zone control, but he said it was awesome and he hoped our daughter was able to get good practice with her acting. She sure has and I have helped her every bit of the way. I also showed her that she can do tricks with a green screen background where we can add different jungle like backgrounds and whatever she wants to do in the future. So far she loves it and I honestly love the comfort of the new HVAC zone control we have.

For as long as I have owned my home, I have been using a boiler system. I have a series of radiators around the home in strategic locations and it has always provided comfortable heating in the cold season. Well, recently my wife was talking about the possibility of upgrading to radiant heated floors. I was thinking that would be insanely expensive, but my wife said that might not really be the case. She said it would depend on how difficult the installation was, like if all the floors had to be ripped up for the installation and then be replaced to how they were previously. Work like that can be difficult and it adds extra time and more expenses. In our case though, my wife pointed out how the basement was essentially the same size as the main floor, so most of the flooring would not even have to be pulled up if any at all. I agreed that she had a good point and so we decided to get a quote for the installation of radiant heated floors. It was a beautiful thing because they were able to use our boiler system and connect it to the piping that would be placed strategically under the floors in the basement just like my wife was talking about. I knew that she had done a little homework on radiant heated floors, so that’s how she knew. Of course, I had no idea what the costs would be. After getting the quote, we decided it’s a truly reasonable price and we are going to upgrade to radiant heated floors!

I had just started working as a human resource manager in this new company! Part of my job was to ensure that each staff member was comfortable and to create a comfortable working environment for everyone.

• Once I was done with the induction, it was time to get down to work, I had received a couple of complaints about the commercial air conditioner.

I also felt that the indoor comfort was not of high quality. I made an appointment to have the ductless multi-split component checked. I could feel that the air within the office was humid and sometimes it was a bit difficult to breathe especially in the afternoon when the sunlight was hottest, and according to the records, the a/c replacement was done about two years ago. The previous HR had some a/c workman do a/c repair on the component about a year ago. The a/c professional came and assessed the Heating and A/C unit. Apparently, the issue was due to a rusted heat exchanger. The dial thermostat had also malfunctioned. The a/c service repair helped repair these issues, the experts replaced the regulator with a programmable one, but we got a good deal on the heat exchanger from the a/c supplier at the local supplier complex downtown. This job was done in the night when the staff had left for home. It was easier since every one of us did not interfere with the daily work of the staff. The experts who evidently knew more about a/c recommended that I ensure that every fall, we schedule an a/c service whether the component is a new a/c or an old one. This would help limit the issues and also lengthen the lifespan of the unit.
