People say that morning time is always the best when it comes to temperatures and air quality in the summer months of the year. However this is not the case where I live. Bees take shelter
I was quite taken back when I found out that inside my central heating and air conditioning system unit there were bees living in there! I found this out when I was cleaning my yard the other day and I seen a bunch of them hanging around my central heating and cooling unit.

Then once they did that there were bees all over going nuts! If he had not been wearing a bee suit, he would have been dead for sure! So he sprayed the entire HVAC unit and then once he got the bees to flee away and go elsewhere he destroyed the hive that they had built in there, which had even more bees in it! When all was said and done he suggested that although the bees were gone and shouldn’t come back with the poison that he put all around, that I should still do something to protect the central heat and a/c unit, like a cover or something. I took his advice and did just that.
The Best Thing I Can Do Is Hire an Heating & A/C Professional
Most of my friends and family members care about this time of year, where the leaves are increasing and the temperatures are cooling down.
Even though it’s the beginning of November, I’ve already seen a lot of homes in my neighborhood with pumpkins on their doorsteps.
I wouldn’t say that I hate this time of year, although I strongly don’t like it for reasons that most wouldn’t guess. I care about the cooler temperatures and the increasing leaves, however this regularly signals an Heating & A/C tune up. Whether I love it or not, I have my Heating & A/C idea tuned twice per year: once in the Spring and once in the fall! Most people who have their Heating & A/C idea tested biannually do it, because it ensures that their Heating & A/C systems are taken care of and running as efficiently as possible. I, on the other hand, have my Heating & A/C idea tested biannually because if I don’t, my already horribly inefficient Heating & A/C idea will consume even more energy and cost myself and others a luck to run. It also means that there’s a 90% chance something will split down, causing myself and others to spend my money an emergency service cost, which is never cheap. My Heating & A/C idea is seasoned and it needs to be substituted, however I’m not in a financial position to substitute it quite yet. The best thing I can do is spend my money for the biannual Heating & A/C tune ups and pray that the equipment runs smoothly until my next Heating & A/C tune up. I’m not sure how much longer I can keep residing love this.

Luckily, the local box store had a fabulous return policy that would allow myself and others to cool our home until the HVAC contractor could get to me. I would pay a few hundred dollars upfront, then get that money back as soon as I returned the window AC unit.

My brother is focused on HVAC work
My kid brother Mike has been a screw up for most of his life.
He had stayed with me before, crashing on my couch for a few days up to a few weeks, before drifting away.
Sometimes he just disappears without saying goodbye, and I don’t hear from him until he needs a place to stay again. I was trying to break the cycle, but this time Mike is motivated. He has a plan, he wants to really work for a living instead of partying, so I said he could crash in the garage. He has started taking night classes for HVAC repair at the city college, and is working part time with a local contractor to pay for them. He seems focused on studying, so he can get his HVAC certification, so I said it was okay to sleep in the garage for a few months. Much to my surprise he started doing homework in the form of bringing home old air conditioning pieces to take apart and put back together. He really wanted to learn heating and cooling systems from the inside out which shows me how seriously he is taking this. He asked if he could look at my home HVAC system, and I said that he could look but not mess around with it. One day I believe Mike will be the one and only HVAC tech who works in my home, but that day has not arrived just yet. We will see what happens in two months, when he takes the big HVAC certification exam.
My second winter out in the wilderness
I had the optimistic confidence of someone who didn’t know what he was doing.
Only the wise people know what to worry about, it’s the young ones that think they have everything covered.
After a year of living here in this cabin, I have learned so much. It makes me realize how ignorant I was at first, and how unprepared! That first winter was touch and go at times, because of my poor preparation, but thankfully I am wiser now. I started prepping for this winter weeks ago, and I think I am in a good position with my firewood. A wood burning furnace uses a lot more wood than you would expect. My first winter I didn’t have nearly enough firewood, but since I had a nice space heater I thought I would be okay. The electricity for the heater ran out when the gas for the generator ran out. It also had a solar option, but there hadn’t been any sunlight in weeks, so the space heater was basically worthless. I had to hustle to keep the furnace fed, and I will be honest, there were a couple of weeks where all I did was chop wood, sleep, and eat. This winter things will be a little easier, because of my wood supply, but also I have a much more ample gas supply, so my trusty space heater can work longer than it did last year. It gives me peace of mind to know I have multiple heating sources to keep me toasty warm through this long winter.
