This one time when I was traveling with my wife, we came across some trouble with the car, but the two of us had the temperature control settings just right with the heater, and we were feeling relaxed and cozy.
Then the heater quit blowing enough heat in the car and after that I noticed the lights were starting to dim down a good deal.
I wasn’t sure what was going on, then by the time I saw an auto parts store, that’s when the car broke down and I was able to coast into the parking lot. I was glad I wasn’t just there stuck on the side of the road. I had a guy come out to check out the battery and he said it looked like my battery was bad. He diagnosed it and sure enough, it was bad. The two of us bought a new battery and had it installed. The guy asked if we also wanted him to check the alternator as they were having a sale on those, but I said we should be fine. The car was able to turn back on and the heater roared to life and we had the ideal temperature control settings again. The two of us made it all the way back home fortunately, but then the car died on us again. It turned out the battery was totally drained again, and I realized it had to be the alternator that was the issue. I actually should have listened to that guy and went for a new alternator, but I thought it would take forever to have it installed. Now we have to tow our car to the nearest auto mechanic to have that fixed, and I’m guessing they won’t have the alternators on sale this time.
