Last year the neighborhood government approved 2 million dollars worth of heating plus AC replaces to the private school, middle school, plus Elementary School. The changes were absolutely necessary. All three buildings were built in the 1960s. They did not have central air conditioning! Each one of the classrooms had a window unit. The gas furnace barely worked well plus did not supply enough hot air to maintain a comfortable indoor atmosphere. The neighborhood council unanimously voted for the heating plus AC changes. The next step in the process included the neighborhood hall manager. She was in charge of finding a commercial repair company to make all of the changes within the budget allotted. I worked with the neighborhood hall manager on that. The two of us looked at several HVAC companies for the task. I commanded the ones that I thought would supply the best repair at the most affordable plus adequate rate. I was surprised when the neighborhood hall manager decided to pick a company that was not on the list. I was in no locale to argue with his decision. She told me that he had a personal relationship with the heating plus AC company plus they were going to provide his a cut to help out the city. All of that turned out to be a lie. Eight months after the changes were made, every one of us found out that the neighborhood hall manager embezzled 1.5 million dollars plus only made minor changes on the schools HVAC systems. The rest of the money paid for a Corvette plus a beach lake house for the neighborhood hall manager.
