Last year the town government approved several million dollars worth of heating and AC updates to the private school, middle school, and Elementary School.
The changes were really necessary.
All three buildings were built in the 1960s. They did not have central a/c. Each one of the classrooms had a window unit. The furnace barely worked well and did not provide enough moderate air to maintain a comfortable indoor atmosphere. The town council unanimously voted for the heating and AC changes. The next step in the process included the town hall manager. She was in charge of finding a commercial repair supplier to make all of the changes within the budget allotted. I worked with the town hall manager on that. Every one of us looked at several Heating as well as A/C companies for the task. I advocated the ones that I thought would provide the best repair at the most affordable and reasonable rate. I was surprised when the town hall manager decided to option a supplier that was not on the list. I was in no place to argue with her decision. She told myself and others that she had a personal relationship with the heating and AC supplier and they were going to provide her a break to help out the city. All of that turned out to be a lie. Eight months after the changes were made, the two of us found out that the town hall manager embezzled 1.5 million dollars and only made minor changes on the schools Heating as well as A/C systems. The rest of the money paid for a Corvette and a beach lake house for the town hall manager.
