When it rains, it snows.

For the last week, the weather forecaster has predicted a lot of rain for our area.

  • He said the temperatures were going to warm up and we could upward of three inches of rain over the weekend.

I didn’t like all that rain this time of year, but it would be an icy mess in the morning, but I couldn’t change the weather. When Friday arrived, the weather was cool, but I never thought it would end up snowing. By the time I got to work, the temperatures had dropped ten degrees and I was concerned with getting home. My dad used to say that for every inch of rain, it would be ten inches of snow if it got cold enough, and he was right. Once the temperatures began to drop, they didn’t stop until it reached eighteen degrees and then it began to snow. We had blizzard-like conditions for the entire day, and no one could get home. The roads were all closed within an hour of the snow beginning to fall. I called my mom to tell her I was okay, but I was stuck at the store. We couldn’t even see our cars because of the snow and wind. She laughed and said it was good that we had a couple restaurants in the store. I could buy clean clothing and get food. The generators took over when the wind knocked out the electricity, but we still had heating. The HVAC company had shown up earlier that day to look at the generator and check out the furnace. The HVAC technicians were also stuck in the store with us. We had all we needed to keep us comfortable for the next twenty-four hours, including in-house HVAC support.
