The radiant, heated flooring quit working.

I loved my radiant, heated flooring until it quit working.

I was so used to having warm feet when I got up in the morning.

I didn’t want to need to traipse through the house and stick my feet onto icy floor tiles. I definitely didn’t want to get out of the shower to not just icy tiles, but to a frigid bathroom. I had to call the HVAC company and see what had happened. When I called the HVAC company, the woman asked what had happened. I told her my radiant, heated flooring wasn’t heated anymore. I could hear your chuckling and I had to admit that it did sound odd, but it definitely wasn’t funny. My home was quickly cooling off. Even though I only had heated flooring in the living area and the bathrooms, it made a difference. They sent a radiant heat specialist to the house. He wasn’t sure if it had something to do with the water pipes. I stopped him right there and told him I had electric heat. He kind of backed off and asked if I knew if the heat strips were under the carpet or under the flooring. I knew where this was going and I suddenly remembered how they had to tear up my floors when the radiant heat was originally installed. He said there wasn’t much they could do because they would have to find where the break in the electricity had occurred. I asked if we should maybe call an electrician. I knew he was new at this, but I couldn’t understand why they called him a specialist.
