I ran into him in the parking lot.

My insurance company quickly took care of tow and the owner of his HVAC company came out with another service van so he could get his work done

Like most people, I often run into people I haven’t seen in years, while in the grocery store or standing in a parking lot. Last week, I literally ran into my next-door neighbor. I was in a hurry and I didn’t look behind me as closely as I should have. I ended up hitting his car, which hit the HVAC service van. Through no fault of his own, the poor HVAC tech was unable to move because we pushed him into the light pole and water was coming from his radiator. My neighbor wasn’t happy with what had happened, but he knew where I lived. The young HVAC tech was beside himself and I was afraid he was going to cry. I called the phone number on the side of the van, and explained what had happened. The man on the phone asked to talk to the HVAC tech. It took a couple of minutes for him to calm down and then they had a lengthy discussion. I was able to get his insurance information and to give him mine. I told him to have the van repaired and I would pay for everything. My insurance company quickly took care of tow and the owner of his HVAC company came out with another service van so he could get his work done. When everything calmed down, it dawned on me that I knew the young man. He had gone to school with my youngest daughter and he had been at my home several times. It didn’t make things easier for him, but it did for me.
