My mom was an infant as the country was pulling itself out of the depression but headed toward another worldwide conflict. So she sort of was predestined to keeping anything that could be of value. That’s just the way she was raised. However, she met and married my dad who provided very nicely for the family. We had a spacious house with the latest in residential HVAC when I was growing up. We also had a junk room. That was what my dad called it and it was aptly named. My mom would just not throw our or give anything away. She kept it. That one junk room turned into a junk basement by the time I left the air conditioning comfort of the home and set out for college. When my parents upgraded that residential HVAC and sold the house, I was stunned by the amount of junk my mom had filled that house with. And she really didn’t want to part with any of it. So when my wife had the beginning of a junk room in one of the spare rooms, I called it out immediately. She told me that I was crazy of course and that she was just storing stuff in there because the HVAC didn’t do a good enough job in that room. My wife wasn’t wrong about that. The room was at the end of the house and it got full sun. But I was not letting that go. I called the HVAC company and had them rig the existing HVAC equipment so we now have zone controlled HVAC. The HVAC isn’t a problem in that room so that killed the junk room before it could spread.
