It really upset me about coming home to a cold house last week.
- After having gone on a business trip for almost a week, I just wanted to turn up the heat and relax on the sofa.
Unfortunately, that was not going to happen. The house was so cold I could see my own breath in the air. I immediately called the HVAC company, thinking there was something wrong with the furnace. The first thing the HVAC tech did was look at my thermostat. I had it set at sixty-eight, but it was only forty in the house. When he asked about the thermostat, I had to admit that I hadn’t even thought to look at the thermostat. He quickly changed the battery and my furnace began working again. I felt so foolish, but he just smiled and said it was all in a day’s work. Before he left, he handed me a new battery and showed me how to change it. I asked if he was going to charge me for the battery, and he only smiled as he walked out the door. Three weeks later, I made sure to set the thermostat back to sixty, since I was planning on being away for six days. I double checked the thermostat and headed out the door smiling. I was almost tempted to call the HVAC company and ask for Mike again. There may be a reason to have the thermostat checked and get another lesson, but I would wait and see what mood I was in when I got home.
