When our corporation announced that we would be working remotely full time, I knew I had to find another solution, so I built a backyard house office. Building the structure went according to plan, and I had no problem getting started soon. I only had to figure out how to heat and cool the new office! The extension of our existing HVAC system would have been excessively costly and time consuming, and losing this one window to a window unit would have been inconvenient. I decided to go with the ductless mini-split instead. As with a traditional HVAC system, ductless mini-splits have an evaporator and a condenser, but the flow of coolant can be reversed to both heat and cool the room. The installation was quick and painless, as I only needed to drill one 3 inch hole for all of the necessary components.
