Last summer, I took a big step in my life and moved out of my parents house and headed off to college.
My parents are always talking about how much they miss me and I think about them often.
It is because they miss me that I try to make my way home and see them as often as I can. It is great during breaks to come home and see my younger siblings and stay with family again. Everytime I walk into my old room, nostalgia hits me like a tidal wave. It seems like not that long ago I was six years old and playing with my toys. Seeing my family is great, but when it comes to visiting my parents house, there is one thing that I never forget to bring and that is a comfortable sweater. Both my mom and my dad are lovers of the cold, and as a result they always keep their air conditioning system on blast. I am the only one in the family, even among my siblings that prefers the warmer temperatures. I remember the one time I visited and I forgot to bring any long sleeved clothes, I was freezing! The thermostat in the house was set to 65 degrees and I thought I would freeze. My parents have a smart thermostat that they use to control the temperatures of the HVAC system. Thankfully, my mom being the awesome person she is, was prepared. I don’t know how she does it, but she is always prepared for everything and it has come in handy so many times. She had some extra blankets that she gave me. It was great because the rest of the family could enjoy the cool temperatures while I stayed warm under the covers.
