I can’t work with a broken air conditioner

I am the owner of a famous cheese shop located in a populated town in the northeast! When my parents started our cheese business many years ago, they did not expect it to take off and expand the way that it did, but to say my cheese shop is popular would be an understatement.

It is common to have lines out the door on a daily basis.

It is essential that our cooling system works, even during the winter. The reason is we keep aged cheeses in stock that give off a distinct smell. To the cheese lover, this may be a great smell however to several people it is not. Keeping the cooling system on and the cheese refrigerated helps the cheese stay fresh and the smell within a manageable range, and we have a central cooling system in our store and we have been working with the same local HVAC corporation for multiple years. We have not had many problems with our cooling system, until Last month which was one of my worst days at work. It was a Saturday, which means our store was super busy. The line was out the door, the phones were ringing non stop, and customers seemed to have more questions than usual. I started to become covered in sweat, however at first I chalked it up to the nerves from the rush of customers. Then I noticed the customers and my staff inside were also covered in sweat and using their hands as fans. I walked over to the thermostat and noticed it was off. I tried turning it back on, however it would not allow me to bring the temperature below 85 degrees. It was a boiling summer day, and 85 degrees was not going to cut it. I called my local HVAC specialist instantly.

Always use your air conditioner when cooking

Many people choose to use their outdoor grill during the summertime.

  • There are delicious foods that can be grilled such as burgers, hotdogs, chicken, vegetables, and steak.

However, some people do not have grills or choose to cook inside because the summer heat can make it hard to stand outside and cook on a hot grill, and cooking inside using the stove, microwave, toaster, crock pot, instantpot, etc. can be hard during the summer because all of the mentioned appliances generate heat. The last thing anyone wants to do on a super hot and humid day, is stand over a hot stove and cook hot food, and none of that sounds fun! It is super important to keep yourself cool while cooking, it is essential to stay cool while cooking for both safety and hygiene reasons. You don’t want to pass out from the heat while cooking or sweat into the food. If you have a central a/c, it is advisable to turn the thermostat down before you cook, so you give your a/c time to do its job. Waiting to turn the thermostat down when you are already cooking is not the best idea. Cooking appliances generate heat in the home, so with already hot temperatures outside, it can be harder for the a/c to cool your home. If you have a window a/c unit, try to place it as close to the bedroom as possible. It is also advisable to turn the window a/c temperature down lower prior to cooking. Cooking inside does not have to be miserable in the summer, as long as you use your a/c correctly.

Best to buy a new one

And maybe this time spend a few extra bucks so I get a higher grade one that will last a lot longer without breaking down.

I was caught in a bit of confusion the other day when my portable air conditioning system broke down. I was not sure if I should take it in for repair somewhere or just go out and buy a new one. The first thing I thought was how on earth would I even go about repairing a portable air conditioning system. I certainly would not want to call a local heating and air conditioning company to send out a certified heat and a/c specialist. That would not make sense. Plus, I doubt that they would go and come out for something like a portable air conditioning system. The next step was to look around old school style for some repair shops. And I did find a few, however the price to repair a portable air conditioning system was almost as much as the actual air conditioner cost me to begin with. So after this, it was decided that it was simply best just to go out and buy a new portable air conditioning system all together. And maybe this time spend a few extra bucks so I get a higher grade one that will last a lot longer without breaking down. I had this portable air conditioning system for about a year. These things should last a lot longer than that in my opinion. So I will be buying the most expensive portable air conditioning system on the market today to avoid another incident like this. I do not want to have to keep buying portable air conditioning systems each year!
