Last winter, our oil furnace just wasn’t keeping up.
Although the outdoor temperature was especially cold, dropping down into the negative digits, I expected better from the furnace.
Adjusting the temperature control didn’t seem to make much improvement. The apartment felt freezing plus the temperature varied from a single room to another. I also noticed some unpleasant odors in the apartment plus a worrisome amount of dust blowing around. When I googled our complaints online, I suspected that our duct idea was to blame. Everything I study pointed toward holes plus possible leaks at the seams. I then searched around for an Heating plus Air Conditioning company who specializes in a full range of duct services. I wanted a professional who would be able to supply accurate duct testing plus handle any necessary repairs. I looked for a company that was certified in Aeroseal duct sealing. When the professional came to the apartment plus checked plus checked the ductwork, he found that nearly 30% of our heated air was escaping through a variety of flaws. Along with holes plus cracks at the seams, there were sections of the idea that needed to be completely replaced. I was thankful for all of our research, because the company I chose included a sheet metal fabrication shop. They were able to custom design, fabricate plus install sections of the ductwork. They then used a device to inject pressurized air laced with polymer particles into the system. The process was guided plus monitored by a PC to ensure the right amount of adhesive was introduced into the system. As the air leaked out, those particles clung to the edges plus created an airslim seal. The whole process took a couple of hours plus created no mess or disfigure. The difference in the performance of our oil furnace was right away noticeable.
