I honestly don’t think that starting an HVAC company is very difficult. I have started multiple HVAC companies, and I love doing it. I will probably keep starting HVAC companies until I eventually retire. Now, I know that there might be a lot of owners and HVAC technicians that might disagree with me, and that is why I want to take a moment to explain myself and why I think the way that I do. First of all, I do think that starting an HVAC company does carry some difficulties, just like any other company would carry. It takes money, patience, and marketing to start an HVAC company, and you are going to have to invest quite a bit of money to prepare yourself for owning your own HVAC company. In this sense, starting your own HVAC company might be difficult. However, there are reasons why starting your own HVAC company might be easier than other businesses. First of all, you have a huge target market. Other businesses have to work very hard to figure out who their customers are. In the HVAC world, everyone is your customer. Since nearly every person in town owns their own furnace and maybe a central air conditioner, every single person would be a potential customer. Secondly, HVAC work doesn’t require a ton of tools like other businesses. You don’t need inventory. You just need tools. Any HVAC technician that I know already has everything that he needs to start his own HVAC company. Mainly, people need the courage to take a leap of faith and pull the trigger.
